AQT supports Xanadu PennyLane which is a cross-platform Python library for quantum machine learning, automatic differentiation, and optimization of hybrid quantum-classical computations. You can find more information and documentation on PennyLane documentation.

Use your AQT credentials
An AQT backend is available as device in PennyLane by specifiying its name, e.g. aqt.sim for the ideal simulator.

For using the AQT devices the access token has to be provided via the PennyLane configuration file config.toml or via the environment variable AQT_TOKEN. A minimum example for a configuration file is provided below.

Execute a quantum circuit

In above example a Mølmer-Sørenson (MS) gate is applied on qubits 0 and 1 with a pulse area in units of (pi), which can be specified by the parameter (t). Both qubits are measured in the Pauli Z basis and the expectation values are returned for both qubits respectively.

AQT Simulators
The AQT simulators are capable of running ideal simulations (without a noise model) and real simulations (with a noise model) of a quantum circuit. Using a simulator with noise model allows you to estimate the performance of running a circuit on the real hardware. Switching between the two simulation types is done by using the respective device in above example.

License
PennyLane and the PennyLane AQT plugin are licensed under the Apache License 2.0.
Licensing
In order to run AQT beyond the evaluation period, you need to purchase a license key. You will purchase either a Standard Edition license, or Extended Edition license, depending on which edition of AQT you are wishing to run.
When you enter you license key into AQT, it will turn the evaluation edition into the Standard/Extended edition. You do not need to download another install package.
Keep a copy of your license key!
Please retain a copy of your license key! If you loose this, there is no guarantee that we can recover it for you.
Hold your license key on a different machine to the one on which you are running AQT. This means you will not loose your license key if your AQT PC dies unexpectedly.
Perpetual license with a version
Your AQT license is perpetual. It allows you to use that version of AQT in perpetuity without any further payment required. You do not need to pay an annual free.
Your AQT license entitles you to no-cost upgrades to all releases within a version. For example, you can go from AQT v10.0.1 to AQT v10.1.3 for no cost.
Aqt License Key Largo
It does not entitle you to upgrade to a new version. For instance, to upgrade from AQT v9 to AQT v10 you will need to purchase an upgrade license.
